RIDE Don't Drive
There are lots of good alternatives to driving
that save time, money, and the planet!
WALK-ON to Seattle
How To
-
WALK-ON to the ferry at the Clinton Terminal: Ferries depart every 30 minutes. NO WAITING in long, very unpredictable car lines! Ride the FREE Island Transit bus to the ferry terminal. You can pick up the bus at any Island Transit park-and-ride lot, including the one in Clinton near the ferry.
-
WHALE WATCH on the 15-minute ferry ride!
-
RIDE the Community Transit #117 bus (schedule): Unlike the old #113, the #117 meets every ferry and has fewer stops resulting in a much faster ride to the Lynnwood Transit Center (Sound Transit connections, Community Transit connections). To find the Mukilteo terminal's bus stop, go to the ground floor, then the parking area to the left (as you come off the ferry).
-
DO the crossword puzzle on the 35-minute bus ride!
-
CATCH Link light rail to any point south: Many stops along the route through downtown Seattle and SEATAC airport. Soon to the East Side.
-
LISTEN to a podcast on the smooth 30-minute light rail ride to downtown!

Tips

-
-
Get an Orca Card to seamlessly transfer from ferry to bus to light rail! You can set up your card to autoload more funds from your credit card.
-
Orca cards (e-purse) work on the Washington State Ferries, the Community Transit buses (such as 117), the Link Light Rail, the Sound Transit buses (from King County) and the Sounder commuter train.
-
Every passenger should have their own Orca Card. You can’t just tap the same card twice.
-
Get a regular fare Orca Card online or purchase at the vending machine at the Mukilteo Light Rail/Sounder Station (across the street from the Ferry Terminal, next to the railroad tracks).
-
Get a senior-reduced or youth-reduced fare Orca Card online or at the Community Transit Ride Store at the Lynnwood Transit Center: 20110 46th Ave W, Lynnwood WA, 98036. Open: M-F, 7 AM - 6 PM
-
-
Meeting the Bus:
-
The 117 bus leaves from the lot at the north side of the ferry terminal. It may say “Out of Service” when it first arrives, because the driver takes a break if they arrive early. Don’t be fooled. It will be in service every half hour (or every hour, from 9 PM - 11 PM)
-
The ferries may not run on time (no surprise) but the 117 sticks to the schedule. If the ferry arrives in Mukilteo too late for your intended bus, no problem, it’s less than a half hour till the next bus.
